Made expressly for Desert & Denim trade show in Joshua Tree February 12th & 13th.

Rob and his dad poured drinks for people at this epically different and fun trade show. Since the two met in Joshua Tree from Northern California and Baja Arizona, they designed a bitters to reflect those spaces coming together.

These are sold-out, but we are offering a few from our private collection on our website as of July 2015 for those who missed out. Get one while you can, one-and-done.

Northern California meets Baja Arizona. Designed to smell and taste like drinking good coffee in the redwoods while sitting around a mesquite campfire.

This all started while Rob was on a trip with California's wild-foraging perfume distillers Juniper Ridge. He called his dad in Arizona saying "this is nuts, sorry, but... you gotta go cut some mesquite bark off some of your trees out front and send it to me, we gotta do something special for Desert & Denim."

The result? Redwood needles and Douglas Fir wild foraged with Juniper Ridge in the Muir Woods. Mesquite bark, chiltepin, AZ Stronghold red wine and Dos Manos honey sourced from Arizona. Four Barrel Coffee, Sutton Cellars red wine, grapefruit peel sourced from Northern California.

Extractors & Stabilizers: 90% Rye whiskey and 10% Cane spirit.
Bittering agents: Ashwagandha Root, Licorice Root, Chicory Root, Quassia Bark, Catuaba Bark
Background Botanicals: Hibiscus, White Willow Bark, Vanilla Bean, Peppercorn, Coriander, Clove, Allspice, Anise Seed, Star Anise, Cardamom, Fennel Seed, Wormwood, Hawthorn Berries, Burdock Root, Violet Leaf, Rose Hips, Strawberry, Raspberry.
Dosage: Arm the sleeve with one inch of bitters, this is a “dash”. Most cocktails, drinks, and food items will call for 2-3 dashes or sleeves per serving. Play.

Best uses: 

  • Old Fashioned Cocktails made with rye, apple jack, aged rum, and genever
  • Highball: 1.5 oz rye, 4 oz soda, 3 one-inch sleeves of Redwood Mesquite Coffee Bitters
  • On top of iced coffee and cappuccinos 
  • Drop on top of simple and hearty green salads with soft cheese
  • Add to any drink or food when you want to be "taken" to that special place in the wilderness
